Casino Nova Scotia in Sydney

Nova Scotia's second casino is in Sydney, Cape Breton, and it is a different kind of room from the one in Halifax. This page sets out what the Sydney casino has and what it does not.

Where the Sydney casino is

Casino Nova Scotia Sydney is at 525 George St, Sydney, NS B1P 1K5, in Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The phone number is 902-563-7777. On this site, Sydney always means Sydney in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

The Halifax casino is 312 km away in a straight line, and roads are longer than that. Every Cape Breton town on the guide's map is nearer to Sydney than to Halifax. Glace Bay is 19 km from Sydney and 330 km from Halifax. Inverness is 86 km from Sydney, and Port Hawkesbury is 107 km. Antigonish, Mulgrave and Canso are nearer to Sydney as well.

On the floor

What is on the floor

In April 2025 the Sydney casino had 280 slot machines and no table games. There are no live tables and no poker here. Live tables and poker are at the Halifax casino only. What Sydney does have is electronic table games, which are table games played on machines: $3 Blackjack and $1 Roulette.

Hours for the slot floor are not published, so check the venue's own page at greatcanadian.com before a visit. Holiday hours should be checked there too. The Player's Club is one loyalty card for both casinos, so the same card works in Halifax and in Sydney. Joining takes age 19 or older, valid government-issued photo ID and a short application. Benefits are based on play and are not guaranteed.

The golf simulators

Golf simulators are only at the Sydney casino. There are two bays, each for up to 6 golfers, with more than 200 courses to choose from. They run daily from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. The last booking of the day is taken at 10 p.m. Guests must be 19 or older to use them.

Bookings are made by phone at 902-563-7703, up to one month ahead and for at least 1 hour. Groups and company events call 902-563-7794 instead. A booking is released if nobody arrives within 15 minutes. All times on this page are Atlantic time.

Food and drink

The Celtic Junction Bar & Grille is a restaurant and bar inside the Sydney casino, with a full menu. Its hours are not printed in this guide, so check the casinos' own page before a meal. Entry is for guests 19 and older. Anyone who looks under 30 must show valid government photo ID to be served alcohol.
